About the Marina

The Mayflower is tucked away at the western end of the city of Plymouth and over looking the picturesque Mt Edgcumbe Country Park. Its an independent marina owned by shareholders, the vast majority being existing berth holders who place a strong emphasis on customer care a continual investment to improve visitor facilities. Indeed, the marina has a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere and although there are no dedicated visitors berths the marina staff will usually slot you in somewhere.

Attractions close to hand include the Plymouth Gin Distillery, the National Marine Aquarium and the huge shopping complexes of Drake Circus and the Barbican - all within one and a half miles of the marina. Onsite, the marina has its own cafe-bar restaurant ‘Astra’ which is very popular amongst the locals so booking is recommended.

Marina Approaches

All shipping movements, both commercial and military are controlled by the ‘Long Room’ The Queens Harbour Master, on VHF Ch 13 & 14, call sign ‘Long Room Port control’.

The approach to the marina can be made either via the Bridge or the Drake Channel. The Bridge Channel is fairly narrow but well marked and and should only be attempted in favourable conditions and under power. Once past Devils Pt the marina will appear on the starboard side with the distinctive white residential development marking the location of the marina. The marina is protected by heavy displacement floating concrete wavebreakers and visitors berthing is allocated according to vacant residential berths. Access to the marina berths is either via the north end or southern end, depending on the allocated berth.
