About the Marina

The small commercial dock has now been transformed into a luxury apartment cum marina designed with a New England feel with an assortment of pastel shades. Although the marina has H24 access it is limited by the lifting foot bridge which opens on demand from 8am to 5pm, thereafter the neighboroughing restaurant takes the bridge watch till 11pm - call VHF Ch14. There is a waiting pontoon which doubles as the fuel berth, but call well in advance for available berths - the marina is fully subscribed by local residents and available berths are hard to find. The marina claims to be dredged to 2m, but it regularly silts up and the max size that can be accommodated is 11mLOA.

The marina is centrally located in the town of Exmouth and can therefore cater for all your provisioning needs
. There is a supermarket and all the High Street names are represented. Banks and Chandlers will be found as well as a launderette. Bottled gas is available from the hardware store in the town. Trains run to Exeter for connection with the mainline, as well as frequent buses.

Behind the marina to the west is the Exe Sailing Club. Visitors who are members of an RYA affiliated sailing club are welcome at the club when it is open.

Marina Approaches

Entry into the River Exe is in a permanent state of flux due to silting of the estuary. In settled offshore conditions the ideal time to approach is around -3hrHW and in daylight. Always check on the latest position of the channel and channel depths and drying heights etc by calling the HM on VHF Ch 14. Although the channel is well marked and lit, a nightime approach is not recommended. Also avoid entry on the strong ebb which when combined with a strong S/SW wind can kick up a nasty chop.

On approach to the dock entrance beware of strong cross tides and counter eddies as these can reach 5 or 6 kn.
