About the Marina

Shepards Wharf marina was purchased by the Cowes Harbour Commission in 2001 with the objective of providing a marina with first class facilities and services for visiting and racing yachtsman alike, and to create a premier dry sailing centre for one design yachts.

About 25% of the marina is dedicated to visitors berthing on fully serviced pontoon berths which are located just a short 2 minutes walk away from the Cowes High Street. Cowes is the most popular destination for the Solent based weekend sailors who flock to Cowes to capture the atmosphere, the racing, and all the apres-sail amenities and events that comes with sailing.

Fuel is available at Lallow's Yard (open office hours tel: 01983 292112) just to the north of the marina, or alternatively at Cowes Harbour Fuels (open office hours, VHF Ch69 'Cowes Harbour Fuels' tel: 01983 200716) situated to the south of the marina and 200m beyond the Chain Ferry.

Cowes Harbour Fuels prices are posted on their web site

Marina Approaches

Entering the marina is pretty straight forward, except during busy weekends, events or regattas where one should expect to see severe overcrowding. The waters outside the marina can get choppy and bumpy from all the passing traffic, and inside the marina yachts may be rafted up, making conditions for manoeuvring very tight. Beware of the strong cross tides when entering the river, and the chain ferry, just up stream of the Red Funnel Ferry Terminal.
