About the Marina

Poole Harbour is one of the largest natural harbours in the world and because its has such a large expanse of sheltered water its also perhaps one of largest playgrounds for recreational sailing and water sports in the world as well.
The Parkstone Yacht Club Haven is superbly situated in the centre of Poole Harbour and the Yacht Club bar has breathtaking views of the
Harbour, Brownsea Island and the Purbeck hills beyond. The marina is run by the Parkstone Yacht Club and it provides about 200 fully serviced deep water pontoon berths, from which 8 berths are set aside as temporary berths for club members and visitors. Swinging moorings with a water taxi service are available if residential berth holders happen to be away. For provisions there are plenty of local shops in the Parkstone area and there's a very pleasant 2km walk along the foreshore which leads to the the Poole Town Quay. Parkstone has its own rail station with a fast intercity service to either Weymouth or London, stopping off at Southampton Airport on the way.

Marina Approaches

Once through the narrows at Sandbanks its best to use the North Channel to reach the marina. The channel skirts along the northern shores of the harbour and its well marked and lit by port and starboard hand buoys. It used to be routinely dredged to 4m, but its least depth is now around 2.8m. The No.11 North Channel starboard hand buoy, FlG.5s, marks the approach channel of the marina. This buoyed channel is dredged to 1.5m and there are two yellow diamond transit day marks positioned on the marina to assist the approach. The marina entrance is guarded by a wave screen which one skirts around anticlockwise about .
