About the Marina

East Cowes Marina which is managed and operated by Dean & Redyhoff, is the largest of the four marinas on the Medina River. As its name sake suggests its located at East Cowes, just upstream of the chain ferry which carries cars and passengers to West Cowes.

East Cowes doesn’t quite match up to the glamour and glitz that West Cowes has to offer, but this is a thoroughly modern marina adjacent to a residential development.

There are up to 150 visitors berths, with capacity to accommodate rallies and group bookings and the marina operates a comprehensive water taxi service to West Cowes from a number of designated pick up points around the marina. The Lifeboat Inn compliments the marina and serves food and drinks throughout the day. Also, there’s 50sqm marquee and four BBQ pits, with coals and irons included which has proved popular for visitors.

Marina Approaches

Cowes is the UK’s yachting centre, so the river is always pretty busy. Fast cats and passenger car ferries regularly ply in an out of the river, and you need to keep a watchful eye for the chain ferry which is about 2 cables north of the marina. Other than that, the pilotage up the Medina River to the marina is pretty straight forward.

When calling the marina on VHF Ch80, many visitors get confused over call signs. This marinas calls sign is ‘EAST COWES MARINA’ and not be confused with Cowes Yacht Haven which is one the other side of the river.
