About the Marina

The Titchmarsh Marina is tucked right in the corner of the Walton Backwaters, up the Twizzle Creek and in the lee of the Naze. The Backwaters is a series of saltings and creeks which makes it a unique area of outstanding natural beauty and special scientific interest. Therefore, the marina has a certain charm which pulls in visitors form all over the UK and continent who come to enjoy the beautiful beaches, the cliff top walks and gardens, and strolling through the narrow streets of Walton-on-the-Naze. The marina is a tad remote from things and its highly recommended to hire bikes from the marina’s chandlery. The land is entirely flat of course which makes the 2km to the supermarket and to town that much closer. There are 400 tightly packed berths in the marina, which is maintained to a 2m depth, but for larger deeper draft vessels there are linear pontoons with a tide gauge at one end showing the depth in the entrance channel.

Marina Approaches

The start of Twizzle Creek is marked by the ‘Marinestore Chandlery’ NSM where you follow the line of moorings which continue on both sides of the creek. The marina entrance is easily identified by the linear pontoons which straddle the entrance. Although the marina is maintained to a depth of 2m, the entrance is not! Depth across the entrance can be 1m at LWS, so entry for a 1.4 m vessel for example may not be possible until ±1.5hrs LWS.

The marina office opens 8am -8pm during the summer and 8am - 6pm during the winter.
