About the Marina

The Suffolk Yacht Harbour (frequently referred to as Levington Marina) is the East Coast's leading independent, privately owned Marina. Located on the River Orwell near Levington, the marina is well connected being midway between Ipswich and the open sea. The marina has 550 berths and additional swinging moorings, and its own boatyard, maintenance and repair facilities are complemented by top class sailmaking, spar and rigging services, electronics and inboard/outboard engineers. The famous lightship clubhouse of the Haven Ports Yacht Club serves food and drink and welcomes visiting yachtsmen. The well stocked chandlery has a mini market which can save you a walk into town for basic provisions. The marina is rather isolated and the nearest bus stop to Ipswich or Felixstowe is about a mile away, so most visitors make use of the splendid facilities on site. The historic Anglo Saxon burial mound of Sutton Hoe is close by and there are some fine walks along the River Orwell with some notable pubs en route.

Marina Approaches

The dredged entrance channel to the marina is marked by a Safe water buoy , about a third of cable upstream of the ‘Stratton’ starboard hand buoy. The channel is marked by two pairs of red and green posts and at night the channel is emphasised by yellow leading lights which can be absorbed amongst the brightness of the marina’s security lights.
