About the Marina

Penton Hook is Britain’s largest inland marina. It’s situated on one of the loveliest reaches of the River Thames and lies on the fringes of Thorpe Park - a giant amusement park which makes an ideal day out for a family. There’s a short pontoon set aside and dedicated for visitors and within the marina compound is the Penton Hook Yacht Club which welcomes visitors too. It has a bar and can offer visitors lunch and evening meals on Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun. Penton Hook also boasts to have the largest and most comprehensive boatyard in the region offering excellent facilities for boat owners wanting to carry out boat repairs or maintenance work. Besides storage space, there’s an 18 ton mobile crane and a boat mover, along with a purpose-built lifting dock, undercover storage and a DIY work area. There are two slip ways, including one with an access pontoon, both with ample space for car parking and trailer storage. In addition to engineering and repair services, there is a well stocked chandlery and petrol and diesel are available during daylight hours.

Marina Approaches

Because the Penton Hook marina is straddled by two weirs you have to negotiate the Penton Hook Lock coming from the Thames downstream or the Chertsey Lock if coming upstream. Either way, its suggested to round Penton Hook Island clockwise about, where immediately opposite the marina entrance is the short visitors pontoon.
