About the Marina

Essex marina is located on the southern shores of the River Crouch and virtually bang opposite the Burnham-on-Crouch Marina, but unlike Burnham which has a marina basin cut into the land, the Essex marina has two very long pontoons, each about 500m long, which protrude out into the river. Essex Marina therefore boasts up to 500 deep water berths, in addition to 50 or so swinging moorings all with access to the sea at all states of the tide. Set in beautiful country side in an area of Special Scientific Interest, the marina is surrounded by a variety of footpaths and cycle-ways. There’s also a ferry service which runs between Essex Marina and Burnham-on-Crouch Quay. The same ferry operator runs wildlife and seal trip to Wallasea Island.

Marina Approaches

Its about 9Nm from the Spitway to Foulness and another 5Nm to Essex Marina. About a mile upstream of Foulness is the Horse Buoy which heralds the beginning of the narrow Fairway on the South side of the river marked by green conical buoys. Essex marina can be seen about a cable beyond Fairway buoy No.11 to the south.
