About the Marina

Situated on the River Medway, Chatham Maritime Marina was once an important naval base providing vital defence of our eastern seaboard, and its now at the heart of a multimillion pound leisure and retail development that’s set to become a major waterfront attraction. Within a short walk there’s the Chatham Historic Dockyard, The Royal Engineers Museum, Dicken’s World, Rochester Castle and a factory outlet shopping complex to name just a few. The marina accommodates 300 berths and visitors berthing is subject to the number of resident berth holders being away at the time and there's also an events pontoon which is set aside for visitors if no events are running. The marina offers excellent support facilities for boat repairs and maintenance work. There’s a crane with plenty of hard standing space and undercover storage, and there’s well stocked chandlery about 2 miles away in Rochester.

Marina Approaches

Enter the River Medway off Garrison Pt (Sheerness) and follow the buoyed channel for 9.5 miles. The entrance to Chatham Maritime Marina is 1·5 miles above Gillingham, after a long left-hand bend. The marina is accessible at all states of the tide via a lock entrance. However some restrictions may apply to vessels with a draft exceeding 1.5m since there’s only about 1.5 m of water over the sill at MLWS.

Waiting pontoons are situated either side of the lock gate entrance.
