About the Marina

The Vikings chose these quiet waters of the River Blackwater as a suitable spring board to launch their invasion of London. Today the marina is where its historic maritime heritage blends with the modern, where families in day boats mix with Thames Barges and Smacks.

The marina has nearly 200 fully services pontoon berths sheltered by its own natural habitat where the absence of any harbour wall or breakwater provides uninterrupted views of Britains finest salt marshes and it abundance of wild life.

The marina does dry out, but there are 100 or so swinging moorings accessible at all states of the tide. Don’t be put off by the marinas ancient heritage, since its facilities and services are equipped to cater for all the needs of the 21st century.

Marina Approaches

Approach the marina by carefully following the long winding line of moorings up the Lawling Creek. The marina can be reached no better than ±2hrs HW . Approach the pontoons from the mid river moorings by a direct line almost inline with the slipway off pontton ‘A’.
